PostContemporary (PoCo) means that we finally have to move on with the term ’contemporary’ which has been stressed for more than three decades because it became completely vacant. We deny neither the postmodern nor the contemporary since we came from them. Just like the post-socialist and the post-communist lives on too. We could use PostContemporary in Hungarian loan translation, but it sounds forced. The prefix ’post’ means ’after something’ and ’the last phase of something’ the same time. The PostContemporary marks not only art, but more generally ’situation’, ’conditionality’.
The PoCo is not a group, not a movement, still you can join it.

A PostContemporary (PoCo) annyit jelent, hogy végre túl kell lépni a több mint három évtizede hangoztatott “kortárs” jelzőn, mert az teljességgel üressé vált. Nem tagadjuk sem a posztmodernet, sem a kortársat, hiszen mi is abból jöttünk ki. Ugyanígy a posztszocialista, posztkommunista is él tovább. Mondhatnánk “utókortársat” is, de magyarul erőltetetten hangzik. A “post” (poszt) prefix egyszerre jelent ‘valami utáni’-t és ‘valaminek az utolsó fázisá’-t. A PostContemporary nemcsak művészetet jelent, hanem általánosabban ‘helyzet’-et, ‘feltételrendszer’-t.
A PoCo nem csoport, nem mozgalom, mégis lehet hozzá csatlakozni.
